A summer staple for students at San Luis Obispo High School and many in SLO county is visiting the annual Paso Robles Mid State Fair. The Mid State Fair runs from July 17 to 28 this year, and houses multiple sources of entertainment like animal showings, carnival rides, and concerts. The Mid State Fair has both free concerts and big name artists in the Chumash Grandstand Arena.
Who’s on stage this summer?
“[Nickelback] I believe, is a Canadian rock band that formed in the late 90s, early 2000s. They’re mostly known for their song ‘Photograph’, which is mostly a meme song. Nowadays, at least,” said junior Luca Petterson.
Headliners this year include artists like Sublime with Rome, Jelly Roll, Nickelback, and country music stars Miranda Lambert and Brad Paisley to name a few. For many SLOHS students, Sublime is a recognizable name– with songs like ‘Santeria’ and ‘Doin’ Time’ under their belt.
“‘Doin’ time’ is the best song,” said senior Elia Vander Horst.
Free concerts can be found around the Mid State Fair, but those taking place in the Chumash Grandstand Arena require tickets which can be purchased through the Mid State Fair website. Despite that, free concerts include accessible live music to all around the Mid State Fair.
