At today’s Spring Sport Rally today, San Luis Obispo High School students learned that spring has sprung for the Tiger athletes.
With countless teams winning league championships, we are off to CIF. This truly is a great time to alive and sport fanning. Is that a word?
Regardless, go Tigers, bleed out! But not literally, of course.
Track and Field
Track and Field league prelims are today and next Thursday. Last Saturday the girls 4×400 relay team won the gold race at West Coast Relays, running the 4th fastest time in the school’s history. Also last Saturday, senior Wyatt Maulhardt ran a 10.82s to win the 100m, and senior Gwyndolyn Katics won the women’s Varsity 100m in 12.65s -sophomore Bob Meyers
Swim and Dive
Swim and Dive JV and Varsity teams won the CCAA Mountain League Championship. Varsity Girls got 617 points, Varsity Boys got 656 points, Girls JV with 539, Boy’s JV with 678. It was a great week for all Swim and Dive teams, and they get a rest until CIF which is the first week of May in Clovis. CIF Sectionals for swimming and diving are at Clovis West High School from Wednesday through Saturday of next week. -freshman Bee Balicki
Girls Beach Volleyball
Girls Beach Volleyball won their last game against Morro Bay on April 19 with a score of 3-0. Their next game is CIF on Tuesday, April 30, location and time is TBD. They are currently ranked 8th in California and 25th in the entire nation. -junior Phoebe Drazsnzak
Boys Volleyball
Boys Volleyball had a game on Tuesday against Arroyo Grande on their Senior Night, winning 3-0. They’re starting CIF this Tuesday, so go out there and support the Boys Volleyball team. -freshman Sarah Kelley
Baseball
Baseball fell to Righetti 2-11 at home, dropping their record to 6-16. Their league record fell to 2-8. The JV Baseball team beat Righetti 14-3. On Friday, both teams face Righetti for the last time in the season and hope to pull off some wins. Good luck, Tigers, as you finish the season! – freshman Santiago Baltodano
Softball
Varsity Softball had a game on Tuesday against Nipomo and lost 1-11. On Thursday, Softball had a game against Santa Maria and won 17-2. They have a game Tuesday against Orcutt Academy and Thursday against Santa Ynez. Wish them luck as they continue to fight for a top spot in the league. -freshman Sarah Kelley
Stunt
Stunt won their game last Wednesday against Morro Bay, 11-2. That was the last of their league games. Stunt has CIF champions Saturday May 4. -sophomore Ruby Blackburn
Boys Golf
Boys Golf came out victorious this season, shooting their best round in league finals with a combined score of 379! With this win over all the other schools in Mountain League, Boys Golf ended up with a commanding lead for first. Great work Tigers, and good luck as you head on to CIF! -freshman Miles Blackwell
Boys Tennis
This week has been busy for the Tigers. While they won their first CIF match on Tuesday 9-0, they lost 4-5 on Thursday during their second CIF match. On Friday, May 3, the team will have their CIF Area Tournament here at SLOHS where they will be battling it out all day. – sophomore Vyolet Burrus
