Music is a huge aspect of many students’ daily lives here at San Luis Obispo High School. There are many music streaming services that have grown in popularity throughout the years, with Apple Music and Spotify becoming the most popular.
Apple music is around eleven dollars a month and Spotify is around ten dollars monthly. The main difference is Spotify has the ability for users to utilize the service for free but it comes with the downside of ads and limited features. Although the cost difference is extremely small, students have voiced their opinion about the cost.
“I use Spotify because it is the cheapest one and has the largest selection of music. I would probably switch to Apple Music if it was cheaper,” Said junior Liam Overland.
Another small difference is the amount of songs available on these different services. Apple Music is in the lead with one-hundred million songs and Spotify is following closely behind with eighty million songs.
“I use spotify because I wanted the remix version of certain songs. Apple music is only good because you can play music offline faster than Spotify,” said junior Charlotte Dierks.
With that being said even with students answers all generally being the same with a large focus on price, statistically spotify has a larger amount of users.
“My dad bought an apple music plan so that’s why I currently use it but it has everything in need,” said senior Abby Southern.
In the case that students are looking for a new streaming service, there are many others such as Pandora, Amazon Music, and Soundcloud but these are less widely used daily by San Luis Obispo High students.
