San Luis Obispo High School has a diverse mix of people and fashion. But let’s be honest: cotton sweatshirts and Vans are not necessarily the pinnacle of good fashion.
Expressions went out to interview a handful of male students about their personal fashion and what they think of their own style.
Expressions: Do you think that you have good style?
Sophomore Parker Harrison: I’d say that my fashion is pretty much in the middle, like a 6 or 7 out of 10.
Junior Drew Walker: Yes, I think my style is timeless.
Senior Coleman Howe: Yeah, I dress in ways that make me happy so that’s good for me.
Senior Marcus Rudnick: Yeah, in my personal opinion. I have had phases in my life where I have had terrible style but now that I’m in high school I think it’s improved.
Senor Ronan Biggs: I have the best style, I’m drippy.
Expressions: Where do you buy most of your clothes?
Harrison: Usually online, from a bunch of different online stores.
Walker: Usually at the Goodwill bins but if there’s something specific I want I’ll usually get it from Amazon.
Howe: I get a lot of my clothes from the bins and some from the Hemp Shack downtown.
Rudnick: The goodwill bins and my dad’s closet
Biggs: I buy my clothes from thrift stores, old navy, and Amazon.
Expressions: How would you describe your style?
Harrison: Mostly skater and a little indie.
Walker: I try to look messy and grunge like Roderick from Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I want people to look at me and be able to tell that I play instruments.
Howe: I’d say half hippie and half surfer.
Rudnick: Trashy, ironic, and skater. Most of my clothes get destroyed after a few months.
Biggs: Super sleek, super sexy, really fresh, and super good.
Expressions noticed that quite a few of the men on campus get their clothes from the Goodwill bins. There are plenty of affordable options at thrift stores so we can see why. An increase in people shopping more sustainably is a trend that is continuing to rise in our generation and San Luis Obispo High School is obviously not straying away from that trend when it comes to mens fashion on campus.
