Exercising has been proven to help your mental health. When participating in a sport at San Luis Obispo High School during post-COVID-19 2022 one might get their minds off stress related factors associated with these last few crazy years.

“My mind is all over before I run, and after I run it is cleared, and I can think better,” said junior cross country runner Faith Hartford.

Studies have shown that just twenty minutes of exercise daily can help students feel calmer. Some studies even showed that a small amount of exercise can help improve depression.

SLOHS students can find a form of exercise that works for them. Walking, yoga, a team sport at school, going to a gym, or doing a home workout.  There are endless options.

Pick one and you can save yourself from illness.

About 75 to 90 percent of doctor visits are for stress-related illnesses. Exercise causes your body to release endorphins, the chemicals in your brain that relieve pain and stress. It also reduces the levels of stress hormones, cortisol and adrenaline.

We know that stress is prevalent for most high school students.

Just a small amount of exercise might help a Tiger out.
