What’s a great funeral service without music? Expressions asked Students at San Luis Obispo High School what song they want to be played at their funeral. Responses ranged from mumble rap to ad jingles.

Expressions: What song do you want to be played at your funeral?

Junior Luke Reiss: I know what song I want to be played at my funeral. “Ginseng Strip 2002”, by Yung Lean. It’s that it’s the embodiment of modern art in the form of music and it really resonates within me.

Junior A.J. Garcia: “Definitely Too Easy” by Future and Gunna Because life is easy everything goes my way. there isn’t anything I can ́t do, it’s a certified hood classic.

Freshman Mabel Mackirdy: “Forget You” by Celia Greene, because I just love the way it sounds and it’s a song I want people to forget me by.

Freshman Riley O’connor: “Scare me to Heaven”, because I want to pull an advanced next level joke after I’m dead using situational irony. It’s also an exceptional song.

Sophomore Marc Aguilera: I’d play “I Want To Sex You Up” by Color Me Bad because It’s a beautiful song and the lyrics are just perfect. I feel like the song is now under-appreciated.

Senior Rebecca Rodriguez: “Leave Someday” by Kevo Muney. The song is about someone dying and leaving and it being ok. It would make me feel good having everyone at my funeral know that I’m at peace.

Junior Josiah McCarley: I love The Home Depot Beat by Home Depot, I just really connect with it on a deep level. And the part where it goes bum bum buda bum goes really hard.

At your funeral the music played is what people will remember you by. Students should think about what music they would like to be played at their funeral. Ask your friends what music they would like to have at their funeral.
