Have Seniors Made a Decision Yet?

Have+Seniors+Made+a+Decision+Yet%3F

As the traditional college decision day passed this Monday, May 1, San Luis Obispo High School seniors are tasked with picking a college to attend.

Some are not even having the opportunity to set foot on the campus of their future home.

“I think it’s sort of ridiculous that they haven’t moved back the date. I think it’s unfair for students to not have extra time given that it’s May and I still haven’t committed anywhere. I also understand it from the administration point of view because they have a lot to prepare and get ready so I can’t really fault them but it’s still super hard for lots of students,” said senior Paige Lund.

While some colleges have decided to push back the original decision date to a further time, the end of this pandemic is unknown and classes will need to start eventually.

With tens of thousands of dollars in real money on the table, the decisions [seniors] make and don’t make can have a real impact.

Being able to visit campus is important and has been taken away from most hardworking students.

“I haven bee able to visit any out of state college campuses to see if I vibe with them,” said senior Michael Da Silva.

Whether seniors plan to attend a four year university, a private school, community college etc., SLOHS seniors and students all over the world are making a big decision and colleges need to recognize the hault Covid-19 has put on their future.

“I am most excited to get out of SLO and go to a big city and meet new people. Also I am really excited to always have something new to do and new places to explore at San Francisco State University,” said senior Jayde Malzone.
