Thanks to the COVID-19, we now have all this

Thanks+to+the+COVID-19%2C+we+now+have+all+this

Unsurprisingly, it is easy for the world and most importantly San Luis Obispo High School students to focus on the bad, influenced by this pandemic of COVID-19.

School being closed until May 1, or later, vacations being canceled, total isolation, and many other long awaited events being called off are the new norms.

We all know in times like these it is hard to focus on the good, but maybe we should begin to do so.

For starters, staying at home allows more people to stay safe and alive. Older folks and those with autoimmune disorders rely on us as individuals to do our part, so next time the urge of leaving the house overwhelms us, think of all the good being done by just staying home.

While the American working class is staying at home, although Covid- 19 is not doing much to help economically, it is positively affecting the environment for the better.

“I think the only real upside is how little pollution there is in China’s air quality. It has improved almost 400 percent and in Venice the Chanels are clean enough that there are fish and dolphins in them again,” said junior Lukas Von Bischopinck.

This virus has also allowed many people who do not feel comfortable for whatever reason at school, a safe place to learn and focus in their homes.

“It is really nice to be able to work at my own pace for school work, and I have a lot more time,” said sophomore Sofi Shaw.

This break is also allowing for families to re-connect. Whether college siblings are coming home or parents are forced to work at home, we all now get to be a little closer to each other. Creativity is also getting more personal with people who are forced to come up with new activities or think of ideas to get an assignment done, that regularly are easy to complete.

“There have been some good things about the break, like going to Mammoth, as well as having more time for hobbies or exercise. Ultimately, the break has been helpful in providing more free time,” said junior Haley French.

It is very apparent to see the bad in this outbreak, possibly because it mostly is bad, or perhaps because of closed mindedness. Instead of cursing those spreading coronavirus and wishing for the end of the outbreak, be thankful for the silver linings, and keep taking it day by day.
