SLOHS+Wrestlers+Worked+Hard+Over+Break

What has wrestling been Up To?

School may have been out for most students of San Luis Obispo High School, but the SLOHS wrestling team was still in full swing over the winter break. The team split up to take on challengers at meets all over the county, taking down opponents at every event.

“Over the break, the boys JV team went to Righetti for a duals tournament [a tournament with two teams], where they beat both Cabrillo and Lompoc. The girls went to Morro Bay, where both sophomores Rebecca Rodriguez and Devan Minicucci both wrestled really tough and placed,” said wrestling coach and science teacher Kyle Harmon.

The boys varsity team was especially triumphant, heading to Dinuba in Visalia and sending four boys into the second day of the tournament. Senior Ty Evans took fourth place overall out of 47 schools.

The wrestlers will continue to prepare for their next match, which will take place today at Atascadero High School.

“We’re going over there to start our dual season. These next four weeks are all dual meets, and getting ready to win a league title,” said Harmon.
