Halloween Movies To Binge Watch Tonight

Halloween+Movies+To+Binge+Watch+Tonight

In a blink of an eye, leaves begin to fall, pumpkins are carved with funny faces, people prepare their costumes, and the infamous pumpkin spice latte is back. Why? Because it’s Halloween!

Expressions asked San Luis Obispo High School students for their top spooky flicks to get in the Halloween spirit. So, get a blanket, grab some popcorn, a couple of friends, and enjoy Halloween movies from big scares to family classics.

“I like to watch ‘Halloween’ because of the really bad seventies effects,” said senior Camryn Pool.

“Halloween” is a horror classic. The 1978 film follows murderer Michael Myers escaping from an asylum, returning to his hometown to seek new victims. This suspenseful slasher film will surely send a chill down your spine.

“I watch Chucky because it’s a funny movie,” said freshman Jonathan Lopez Cambray.

Referring to the movie “Child’s Play”, Chucky is a doll possessed by a serial killer that is given as a gift from a mother to her son. The premise is one of nightmares, but the characteristics of an 80s movie makes it comical in a sinister way.

“The film ‘Coraline’ is effective at conveying the surreal atmosphere to the audience. The claymation in particular helps emphasize this aspect,” said senior Logan Blackwell.

Shifting from formerly scary movies, “Coraline” provides an unnerving feeling to a family film.

Coraline finds a doorway portal to another world mirroring her own where she encounters the Other Mother. The claymation style and sometimes disturbing imagery creates an “off” feeling perfect for creating a spooky atmosphere.

“‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ gets me excited for Halloween and Christmas,” said senior Isabella Wong.

Another family claymation movie, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” has Jack Skellington and the inhabitants of Halloween Town take over Christmas and wreak havoc in the human world. This movie provides the spirit of Halloween, while also helping you to make it until the Christmas season.

From the classics to new releases, the terrifying to family films, there is a wide range of Halloween movies to binge watch this year. Create a mix of fantastic movies to share with loved ones tonight.

Have a safe and spooky Halloween!
