Bossaball on the Rise

Bossaball+on+the+Rise

At San Luis Obispo High School, students have the chance to participate in countless extracurriculars, including a long list of athletics. With over # different sport to participate in, SLO Tigers have a plethora of different ways to get active with their classmates. However, one sport that lacks a program at SLOHS is on the rise in many different European and South American countries that offers endless hours of fun in the sun: Bossaball.

Brought to life in Spain in 2003, Bossaball combines elements from soccer, basketball, and gymnastics into a high-flying, gravity-defying extreme sport. Two teams play against one another on an inflated court divided in the center by a net with trampolines on either side. The goal, like volleyball, is to cause the ball to bounce on the court of the opposing team, but instead of using one’s hands, players use any part of the body they would like and are allowed to touch the ball eight times before they must send the ball over the net. Players often combine flips and tricks in to their shots, proving for a stunt-filled game that’s fun for everyone.
