Go See “Call Me By Your Name” at The Palm

Go+See+Call+Me+By+Your+Name+at+The+Palm

All San Luis Obispo High school students should go see “Call Me By Your Name”, a drama by director Luca Guadagnino, based on the novel by André Aciman. It tells the sensual story of a love between Elio, a precocious 17 year old American-Italian who spends his summer holidays in his family’s villa in Italy, and Oliver, a charming American scholar working on his doctorate as an intern for Elio’s father. The two discover the beauty of desire over the course of a summer that will change them forever.

When I entered the theater I didn’t even know what the movie was about, but I found the film is far more than any other romance movie. The film is filled with incredible images, colors, and actors, and manages to transmit multiple different feelings at the same time. It is a story of youth that shows the awkward reality of life as a teenager and the process of growing up and realizing who you are.

Throughout the movie I was either smiling or crying, and often they were happy tears. The plot is well thought out, the scoring incredible, and the warm countryside setting made me yearn to visit Italy.

The story of Elio and Oliver is not one to miss. I encourage everyone to experience “Call Me By Your Name”. It can be viewed tonight at 7 p.m. at the Palm Theater.
