Expressions: What inspired your rapping career?
Sophomore Robert Marin (Street Kid): I think 50 Cent mostly, and seeing how people made it, how they’ve worked hard. Especially 50 Cent too you know? He got shot a bunch of times and then got back up.
Expressions: How many songs do you have?
Marin: I’ve written a lot of songs, but my new album that I announced Friday has ten songs on it and I’m working on more.
Expressions: Did you actually say “These b*tches won’t let me,” when asked to encore?
Marin: No, I actually said “teachers”.
Expressions: Where did you come from, seeing as Open Mic seemed to be your first major appearance?
Marin: A lot of people have been asking, my rapper name is Street Kid, and the “street” part actually comes from growing up in Santa Ana, CA.
Expressions: Who do you want to be known as far as your rapping career?
Marin: I wanna go big, but I also want to do it for enjoyment. A lot of rappers nowadays want to be independent, but you know I actually want to do it the label way. I want to be smart about it, kinda like a partnership, I don’t want to be anyone’s dog.
