Warm Weather Fashion Ideas

Warm+Weather+Fashion+Ideas

In these troubling times when it’s hard to keep focus in class and the first traces of summer vacation linger just out of arm’s reach, we must make the conscious decision to peel off our heavy windbreakers and opt for shorts and a t-shirt. But who says we have to stick to the drab routine of wearing shorts which cut off above the knee and a shirt that falls slightly below the hips?

Despite our school’s (and nation’s) obsession with keeping children out of “provocative” clothing, there are ways to dress comfortably without compromising your pleasing visual aesthetic. And these ways are all-inclusive too!

  1. Crop Tops: Anybody can rock a crop top, even guys! Keep your body cool and pair it with shorts, jeans, or skirts for an easy look. Or, if you don’t want to spend money on a new top, find an old shirt you like and cut the bottom off with a pair of scissors.
  2. Flow Pants: Find a pair of pants made with light material and flowing pant leg (see picture) and enjoy the feeling of adequate air flow circulating through your body every time you take a step. Available at local thrift shops and boutiques, these pants are sure to make an impact both physically and visually.
  3. Kimono Cardigans: These simple pieces of fabric add a feeling of elegance as the sheer material catches the wind and dances around your arms. Kimono cardigans can be paired with any kind of outfit, but should probably be used to spruce up something simple. Or, if you want it to be super simple, wear it over your bathing suit at the beach and you won’t be denied service anywhere.
  4. Hats: The most important thing is safety, and protection from the sun is essential. Wide-brimmed hats are perfect for walking around town, a baseball cap makes any outfit more casual, and floppy hats are great for a day at the beach.
  5. Sunglasses: No summer look would be complete without a pair of shades to top it off. Grab a five dollar pair from a gas station or invest in a pair of Ray Bans and rock them at any time of the day.

Remember: wearing clothes should make you feel good and comfortable with yourself, so don’t forget to remind yourself that you look good no matter what!
