SIMEY.VIDS is an Instagram account that gained quick popularity at San Luis Obispo High School these past couple weeks. The account revolves around a headshot of English Teacher Ivan Simon placed on funny memes with the captions containing legendary quotes that Simon often uses in his class. Expressions interviewed junior Grace Price, creator of the trending account.

Expressions: Where did you get the idea to start SIMEY.VIDS?

Junior Grace Price: I have an app on my phone that lets you put faces on memes and I had previously screenshotted a picture of Mr.Simon and it evolved from there. I would put his picture on paintings that I thought was applicable, then I started an Instagram account to put all the videos on.

Expressions: Why did you choose Mr.Simon?

Price: Mr. Simon is a good candidate because he’s always down for a good laugh.

Expressions: Has Mr.Simon seen your work?

Price: I show him periodically the best posts [that] I think he would enjoy the most.

Expressions: Where do you get ideas for your captions?

Price: I write down what he says during class and use those.

Expressions: Do you plan to keep posting?

Price: I am planning on continuing this but might take a break during summer since I won’t see him everyday. I always want fresh ideas for my page.
