This evening, the artwork of San Luis Obispo High School students will be featured in the Innerscope Exhibit during the Downtown San Luis Obispo Art After Dark show. The event will take place at the Art Central Gallery located on 1329 Monterey Street and will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All artwork selected to be showcased in the exhibit displays the theme of “identity” and mediums range from watercolor and photography to ceramics. All students are welcome to come and support the artists as well as explore the other thirty neighboring galleries.
“I encourage everyone to come because it is a chance to see what SLOHS artists do in both their free time and at school,” said junior and Innerscope participant Nicole Kasper. A collection of Kasper’s double exposure photography pieces, of which question the underlying definition of “beauty” and are titled “Beautiful Words”, will be a part of the show.
Senior Summer Truschke’s photography and collage pieces will also be featured in the exhibit as they explore the concepts of family lineage as well as the restrictions of creativity.
“I make art on my own and I was interested to make something based off self-reflection. I’m also very excited to see how the others interpreted the theme of identity,” said Truschke.
The opening reception will allow students to support and view the products of their hardworking and talented classmates.
“Art After Dark is a collection of not only local artists but national artists all exhibited down here in SLO. The whole community gets involved and it’s an honor for our students to be a part of it,” said Art teacher Amanda Eedle.
