Don’t Freak Out About Finals

Dont+Freak+Out+About+Finals

As all San Luis Obispo High School students know, finals start tomorrow, which will end Second trimester and Third trimester will begin the following week. The school is in a ‘Dead Week’ which is the slang term for the week before/during and after  final exams. These weeks are known for  notorious stress. Students are busting their tails studying for finals, taking finals, and then starting new classes.  Follow these few helpful tips as finals approach to ace exams: create study guides, stay well-rested, organize group study sessions, prioritize the tests that matter the most, and naturally energize the morning of the test by eating a filling breakfast. San Luis Obispo High School Expressions interviewed junior Bella Stenvall and senior John-o Roberts about finals and Dead Week.

Expressions: How are you preparing for finals?

Senior John-o Roberts: Group study sessions over the weekend and three hour study sessions every night.

Junior Bella Stenvall: I’m going back and looking over my notes from the entire year. Four of my classes are cumulative for what we’ve learned since the beginning of the year.

Expressions: Do you think Dead Week is beneficial?

Roberts: It’s a good idea, but all of my teachers are doing the opposite by giving me more work.

Stenvall: I think dead week frees up some extra time throughout the week so students can focus on their studies, that’s definitely beneficial.
