On January 20 San Luis Obispo High School participated in its third annual Poetry Out Loud competition. One freshman, three sophomores, twelve juniors, and five seniors recited poems in hopes of being chosen to move on to the county competition on February 12. The student who wins county moves onto state and then onto nationals. The students were judged by a panel of SLOHS English teachers and members of the Cal Poly staff. The winners for each grade were freshman Orchid Sett, sophomore Shelby Holquin, junior Sarah Mosichuk and senior Evan New-Schmidt, who was also the overall runner-up. Senior Ethan McSwain was deemed the winner of our school competition and will go to the county wide competition.
