The San Luis Obispo Color Blast Fun Run is back for its second year. On Saturday January 24 at 10:00 a.m., participants will begin the three mile walk/run starting at San Luis Obispo High School. There is a $35.00 registration fee ($20.00 for students) in which all proceeds are donated to the Alex Maier Memorial Scholarship Fund. (You can register here)

The run is in memory of SLOHS student and varsity soccer player Alex Maier. Maier passed away in 2013 due to a tragic car accident.

“The run is an exciting experience and a great way to remember Alex for who he was,” said senior Kelby Jecker.

“He meant a lot to so many people… and I know he would want us to do something that makes us happy, because that was what he was all about,” said senior Sara Sparks.

The color run allows Maier’s friends, family, and supporters to come together in celebration of his life as well as his motto, “choose happy”.
