Many San Luis Obispo High School students are likely tired of watching the same boring old Christmas movies this time of year, so here are some of the best new movies and classics alike.

“Christmas movies are one of my favorite parts of the holidays. I love the classic ones that you can watch every year but never get tired of,” said freshman Oliver Nemetz.

During Christmas some of the best movies of all time are watched, so without further ado here are some classic Christmas movies and where to watch them:

  • “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” is available on Hulu.
  • “Home Alone” and “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” are available on Hulu and Apple TV.
  • “Elf” is available on Amazon Prime and Hulu.
  • “A Christmas Story” is available on Hulu and Amazon Prime.
  • “The Santa Clause” is available on Amazon Prime and Disney+.
  • “The Polar Express” is available on Hulu and Amazon Prime.
  • “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”  is available on Hulu.
  • “Christmas with the Kranks” is available on Prime Video and Apple TV.

But some students feel like these are overwatched and are looking to switch it up this holiday season.

“I’m tired of watching the same boring old Christmas movies every year. I do like the classics but I wish that there were some new classics,” said freshman Hollis Dickinson.

Here’s some new bangers that students can watch and where to watch them:

  • “The Grinch,” released in 2018, is available on FuboTV and Hulu.
  • “Family Switch,” released in 2023,  is available on Netflix.
  • “The Christmas Chronicles,” released in 2018, is available on Netflix.
  • “Klaus” which came out in 2019 is available on on Netflix.

Christmas movies are loved because they make the audience feel joyful and happy during the holidays. They bring everyone together, they help remind kids to be nice, and they help carry on a tradition that celebrates the true spirit of Christmas.
