Senior students at San Luis Obispo High School had the chance to visit Cuesta College campus on November 16 to learn more about the Cuesta Promise and take a peek at the courses offered on campus.

Cuesta Promise Day covered the promise steps, important deadlines for senior applicants, and allowed students from the San Luis Obispo Coastal Unified School District to tour facilities of the campus related to certain areas of their chosen interest.

Expressions interviewed students who attended the tour to see if they feel that they benefited from the trip and their experiences on Cuesta campus.

Expressions: Do you plan to enroll at Cuesta College in 2024?

Senior Leila Dragomir: Yes, I do, I have planned on doing so for the last few years.

Senior Torunn Larsen: Yeah, I do.

Expressions: Do you feel like Cuesta Promise Day has helped you learn more about a potential major and the steps to get to it?

Dragomir: Not really, I’ve done a lot of research, so I already knew most of what we discussed.

Larsen: It made me more interested in going, being able to actually see the campus.

Expressions: Are there any areas you feel the tour covered well or should have been explored better?

Dragomir: I would’ve liked a full walk around the campus, so I know where my classes will be, not just being assigned to one area.

Larsen: They only let us visit one section that we signed up for, so I feel like we didn’t really get a full scope of the place.

Expressions: Is there anything that still seems unclear or confusing even after Promise Day?

Dragomir: Not that I can think of.

Larsen: No.

Expressions: What was your favorite part of the Promise Day experience?

Dragomir: Walking through a couple of classes and getting to see what my life is gonna be like in a couple of months.

Larsen: The lunch.

Seniors, consider Cuesta College as a valuable option following graduation in June. Take advantage of two years free!
