Students and staff at San Luis Obispo High School should be excited about the new movies coming to theaters this winter season. Whether students stay in and rent these movies, or if they go to theaters, many of them seem to be worth a watch.

“I feel like really good movies always come out during the holiday season, so I’m excited to see some of the upcoming releases,” said junior Sofia Waggoner.

Yesterday, “Napoleon” came out in theaters. The movie illustrates French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte’s rise to power, played by actor Joaquin Phoenix, from the perspective of his wife, Josephine. It’s rated R and is a must-see for all historical action movie fans.

Disney’s new animation, “Wish,” will also be released on November 22. This movie follows 17-year-old Asha who makes a wish on the stars. This movie will serve as background to countless other Disney movies by answering the question: “How did the wishing star, upon which so many characters wished, come to be?”

“RENAISSANCE: A Film by Beyoncé” will be in theaters on December 1. This documentary follows Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE world tour from Sweden to Missouri.

The long-anticipated, “Wonka,” starring Timothée Chalamet will be out on December 15. This movie is adapted from Roald Dahl’s classic novel, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

On December 22, “The Iron Claw,” will be out in theaters. Starring Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, and Lily James, this movie is based on the true story of the Von Erich brothers who made history in the professional wrestling world in the 1980s.

“Ferrari” will be released on Christmas day. This biographical movie, set in 1957, tells the story of the race that almost ended Enzo Ferrari’s auto empire. It stars Adam Driver, Patrick Dempsey, and Hugh Jackman.

Be sure to see some of these movies to add some more entertainment to your winter.
