The large new space has amazing views out of the long row of giant windows. What a difference from the windowless void of the temporary library! All photos courtesy of Expressions adviser Scott Nairne.

After the San Luis Coastal Unified School District failed to open the San Luis Obispo High School Library on time at the beginning of the year, students finally got inside the new building on Monday, October 2.

Worth the wait?  Absolutely.  Expressions was inside on the opening day to see the new digs.

Featured monthly selections are in the first row, and they are ready for check out.

SLOHS Librarians Nikole Dowler and Eliza Escareno stand behind their new and gigantic checkout desk, which included opening day flowers gifted by English teacher Lynnly Sainsbury.

Lots of new titles can be found in popular genres like fiction (pictured), nonfiction, anime, and graphic novels.

Four quiet breakout rooms are available to check out and use for study sessions and group projects. Sign up with the librarians.

Want to lounge.  The Library has your back!

The new backroom offers locked storage for all the textbooks for all departments at SLOHS.

Left of the front door, Career tech Colleen Martin has a Large Career Center space.

Just past AVID teacher Kyle Harmon’s room, the Library doors await.  Library hours are every Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Check it out!
