On Friday August 25, San Luis Obispo High School’s football team won an intense game against Caruthers at Holt Field, supported by a spirited student section. Junior varsity played at 4 p.m. and varsity played at 7p.m. Students decked out in their blackout gear and loudly rooted for the team.

Many students enjoyed hanging out with their friends in the student section and showing support for the team from the bleachers.

“I love how much school spirit everyone has in the student section. Everyone follows the cheers that the spirit commissioners lead and it’s just super fun,” said junior Lily Niven.

The primary energy inducer for many of the people in the student section was the routines of the cheer team.

“This year we are working really hard to bring new halftime routines to each of our games. We like to incorporate dancing, tumbling, and stunting into our halftime, and when we are out on the sideline,” said senior cheer captain Audrey Drenckpohl.

During half-time and before the game, the SLOHS Band also performed upbeat and cheery numbers that got students pumped.

The next football game is on September 1 at Arroyo Grande High School, so be sure to attend it with Tiger pride!
