San Luis Obispo High School (SLOHS) Associated Student Body (ASB) has postponed the back to school rally that was supposed to happen today during third period . ASB had set up this rally to pump everyone up now that they are back at school.
Due to COVID-19 measures in place, the rally was to take place outside of the PE locker rooms on the new practice field.
The reason for this turn of events is that the grass is too wet, as it was supposed to not be watered on the few days leading up to the event.
ASB decided that they did not want students to be sitting on the grass and end up being damp for the rest of the day.
Now for SLOHS students the back to school rally is scheduled for next friday september 3.
“Because it’s the first rally the ASB wanted to truly make it as engaging and as exciting as possible,” said ASB student Ryan Schisler.
There was going to be a tug of war challenge, freshmen against sophomores and juniors against seniors, a scream competition, and the Bucket Catch where classes will be slingshotting various items into buckets.
Pep rallies are a tradition for this school, but not specifically this back to school pep rally.
“This pep rally is actually kind of new because ASB usually has their first rally be the Homecoming one, but because of the lack of rallies we had due to COVID (COVID-19), we decided to have one earlier as a celebration of being back on campus!” said ASB senior Malena Stenvall.
Now we have to wait one more week.
Please remember to wear black and gold on september 3rd! Also, wear black and gold every Friday to show your school spirit. This will be a fun event for SLOHS students, see you there on september 3rd.
