While a lot of new teachers at San Luis Obispo High School are facing their first time teaching, new chemistry teacher Noha Kolkailah has the knowledge and experience to make a change in her students’ lives. Previously the Dean of Faculty and Academics at Mission College Preparatory Catholic School, Kolkailah has 18 years of teaching experience, specializing in the science department. She also has spent time as a chemistry instructor at Cal Poly. Expressions interviewed Kolkailah to learn more about her and her interests.
Expressions: How many years have you been teaching? What subjects do you teach?
SLOHS chemistry teacher Noha Kolkailah: I’ve been an educator for 18 years. I teach science.
Expressions: Have you taught anywhere else previously?
Kolkailah: Yes, mostly private schools, including Mission Prep here in San Luis Obispo.
Expressions: Have you always wanted to become a teacher?
Kolkailah: Yes I have!
Expressions: How do you hope to impact your students?
Kolkailah: I really want all of my students to feel and be successful.
Expressions: What is a fun fact about you that you want your students to know?
Kolkailah: I love going for runs, beach walks, and hiking in SLO.
