San Luis Obispo High School senior Amelia Corpuz-Carr has been playing on the SLOHS girls varsity soccer team for four years now. The Tigers face Buchanan High School today on Holt field at five p.m. for their first home game of the season. Expressions sat down with Corpuz-Carr to discuss her feelings about kicking off the new season.
Expressions: How does it feel to know this is your last first home game of the season?
Senior Amelia Corpuz-Carr: It feels bittersweet because I’ve had so many great memories throughout my time playing on varsity for SLOHS. I’m really looking forward to this upcoming season. But, at the same time, I’m sad because this is my last season.
Expressions: Are you nervous for the game?
Corpuz-Carr: Yes, because I know they’re a really good team and it’s going to be a challenge. But, no matter what the outcome is I know it will make us better as a team.
Expressions: What are you looking forward to?
Corpuz-Carr: I’m looking forward to being more of a leader now that I’m a senior and being a good role model for the new team members.
Expressions: What had inspired you to stay motivated these past four years?
Corpuz-Carr: Having something to look forward to and a goal that I want to reach in the future
Expressions: Are you going to continue playing soccer?
Corpuz-Carr: No, I’m currently focusing more on academics and college aside from soccer.
