The world is covered in beauty, and many San Luis Obispo High School students have been lucky enough to experience some of it. Expressions took the time to interview freshman Gianna Lucchesi, sophomore Leslie Graciano, and freshman Elyse Evers, who all had a story about their adventures, so others can get a taste of what these experiences were like.
Expressions: Where is your favorite place that you’ve ever visited?
Freshman Gianna Lucchesi: Iceland appealed to me.
Sophomore Leslie Graciano: I love Mexico.
Freshman Elyse Evers: My favorite place in the world is Lake Nacimiento.
Expressions: Why is that your favorite place?
Lucchesi: I could actually feel the difference in the air, whether it be from the cold or the air quality. The general place and size of the capital city, Reykjavik, suited me. Everywhere you look, there’s something beautiful; to one direction is the coast and extremely green hills, then you turn around and there’s street art that should belong in a museum.
Graciano: Whenever I go there, I spend time with family that I don’t see often, we celebrate our Mexican traditions, we dance and wear pretty dresses and ride horses around town, and it’s a really pretty place that I really enjoy.
Evers: I have gone there since I was little and have so many memories from it, like I brought friends up there for stuff, and I learned to wakeboard and waterski, and I met two people I would have never met because they live in L.A.
Expressions: Where would you like to visit and why?
Lucchesi: There are so many things that are unique to Peru. To me, I would enjoy seeing the Andes, the Amazon, the wide variety of llamas and alpacas, not to mention Machu Picchu. Also, the whole culture and history – especially the history with the archeology, I can channel my inner Indiana Jones.
Graciano: Italy, because my last name is Graciano and Italy is the origin of my last name and I think it would be awesome to visit.
Evers: Ireland. I want to go cross country fox hunting through the countryside with a group of riders.
