This spring trimester, San Luis Obispo High School’s theater is presenting the famous musical “Guys and Dolls”. Set in the 1950s, the story begins with two gamblers Nathan Detroit, played by sophomore Sawyer McSorley and senior Blake Griffith, and Sky Masterson, played by seniors Adrian Collins and Luke O’Leary, and a bet about virtuous Sarah Brown, played by sophomore Lauren Hatcher and senior Darcy Hummel. Nathan bets Sky that he cannot get Sarah Brown out on a date. Meanwhile, Nathan’s longtime fiancée, Adelaide, played by junior Tyra Popovich and sophomore Dasha Novotny, wants him to marry her. The musical includes gamblers, showgirls, missionaries and so much more! Through song and dance these unlikely and complicated love stories unravel, keeping the audience thoroughly captivated.
“It’s a fun environment and makes it more interactive with the audience,” said SLOHS theater teacher Kate Stephens.
The show will be performed outside in the open quad between the English department and the auto shop. The cast of this musical, including production members, is above sixty five people. New mics and lights are another addition to this wonderful show.
