With the 2024-2025 school year at San Luis Obispo High School beginning, sports are in session and school spirit is ramping up. Athletes have been hard at work preparing for their games, and the football team is set to have their first game of the season today, August 23, after school.
Football season in particular brings lots of energy, with many students looking forward to attending the games.
“Football games are definitely the highlight of the school year, everybody has so much school spirit and I’m always looking forward to the next game!” said sophomore Talia Garrett.
The game is USA themed, meaning that students should show up both to school and the game later repping red, white, and blue. The rally today should encourage more students to attend the game and raise overall spirit.
“I’m excited to see my brother play for the first time and am happy to show my support at the rally,” said senior Sage Meeks.
The marching band will also be playing throughout the game and performing at half-time, which students can look forward to as well.
“Band will be playing the Star Spangled Banner and Tiger Rag for pre-game on the field, then at half-time, we’ll be playing two more pep-tunes. As we start nailing down our field show, you can expect to see it at future games,” said junior Hayley Nicoletti.
Junior Varsity will begin at four p.m. with Varsity playing later at seven p.m. after school. To get into the game it’s $5 without an ASB sticker, and completely free for those with ASB. There will also be concessions available throughout the game for purchase.
Make sure to show support for the Football team and SLOHS’ cheerleaders, as well as the marching band by showing up.
Tigers, sport USA colors tonight at the game and get ready to roar!
