All San Luis Obispo High School students have gone to the movies at some point in their lives. The food at movie theaters tends to be extremely unhealthy. At SLOHS’s movie club, food and drinks are provided for free. Additionally, the club plans on providing a more healthy food variation in future meetings.
Movie club is a brand new club this year, with two meetings this year. Freshman president Esther Rezentes is in charge of the food.
“I would typically just bring in different sodas and chips. In future meetings bringing in healthy foods like veggies would be good. I wouldn’t be able to bring in nuts or other foods that cause allergies,” said Rezentes.
Members of movie club gave their input and ideas on the news.
“I think it’d be nice having healthy snacks because that means a bigger variety. If I could add a healthy food to the club it would probably be fruits,” said freshman Selene Ramirez.
Other members of movie club feel indifferent about the news.
“Part of me feels like it’s important that healthy food will be added but at the same time I don’t really care as long as there’s something we can snack on. I don’t really have any food requests either,” said freshman Sadie Fischer.
The next movie club meeting will take place on the first friday of December. Stop by freshman english teacher Serena Enzerink’s room in the portables.
