Fashion is a popular trend mainly in styles of dress and ornament or manners of behavior. With 1,568 students attending San Luis Obispo High School, there is a plethora of fashion subcultures.
The color of clothing affects how one may feel. Warm colors for example red, yellow, and organs can stimulate emotions ranging from warmth and comfort to hostility and anger. While cool colors for example green, blue and purple can prompt emotions of calmness or sadness.
“It makes me happy and I feel understood without even having to talk about myself. It’s like dressing what I feel on the inside.” said freshman Habiba Abo Ismail.
Garments can ameliorate one’s mood and boost confidence or help one get into character. As a whole, we connect clothes to certain roles. For instance, if one would like to feel confident one may wear or buy clothes that invoke this feeling of confidence. When one is in control of what they are wearing it gives a sense of empowerment and helps better mental health. Practicing a routine and dressing in clothes that invoke good feelings can help people advert thoughts that lead to anxiety and depression.
Contrastingly wearing clothes that are out of one’s comfort zone tends to make one feel anxious and embarrassed. One will be more likely to think about how this outfit is out of their comfort zone.
“When I wear hoodies I feel more tired and I tend to be more unproductive,” said freshman Frankie James.
Fashion is one of the most omnipresent things people consume. People choose clothing, makeup, and hairstyles that makes one feel good.
