San luis Obispo high school music junkies love nothing more than calling out people wearing their favorite band’s tee shirt. These die hard listeners may be some of the worst people to walk this accursed planet, but you will inevitably feel inferior after not knowing three songs after being asked.
Popular music artist Mac DeMarco will be coming to our very own Fremont theater on August 24.
His show is already sold out meaning the venue will be filled with varying levels of Mac knowledge. In this article expressions will go over DeMarco’s top songs with insightful descriptions so even you can sound like you’ve been listening to the prince of indie rock for years.
“Chamber Of Reflection”- DeMarco’s top streams song across Apple Music and Spotify brings a longing and mystic feel to the indie rock genre. The song is centered around an initiation step in the process of becoming a freemason. In the beginning of the ritual one must lock themselves in a “chamber of reflection” which consists of a room where you look back upon your life, reminiscing your choices. This song is also Tyler The Creator’s favorite song if that means anything to you.
“My Kind of Woman”- Another fan favorite, this song talks about DeMarco’s current relationship with girlfriend Kiki. In this lustful song he speaks about begging for her attention and feeling like she is the female equivalent of himself.
“Salad days”- The title track to one of his most popular albums. This song captures DeMarco’s feeling of comedown after a long, and stressful tour. The term “Salad Days” is also used to describe someone’s peak or high point, DeMarco could be saying that his recent tour was the best time of his life and he’s been on a comedown.
If anyone manages to get tickets to the show, Expressions hopes they have a fantastic time, and if not we strongly recommend checking out DeMarco’s music.
