As San Luis Obispo High School enters its final trimester of the 2021-2022 school year, there are many aspects to reminisce, as well as look forward to, specifically for this years graduating seniors. Even with all of the upcoming decisions, it is important to recognize positive elements during stressful times and make these last few months memorable before walking across that stage.
“This spring, I am looking forward to graduating, meeting new people, and traveling! Spring is a time of new beginnings and I cannot wait to experience adulthood. I hope to settle in at college and find a group of people that make me happy to be around. At the moment, I hope to make small accomplishments here and there, but mainly just live every day to its fullest,” said senior Lauren Lepe.
Many seniors at SLOHS can agree on the fact that these new beginnings, although often daunting, are a new chapter for adventure as they head off on their future endeavors, wherever that may be. This experience of excitement is also shared by teachers on campus.
“I love the spring time when seniors start to settle in with their plans on what the next four years will be like. I also like that I get to help in the process of what the end of their high school decisions will be like,” said math teacher Blake Bristol.
With only fifty-three school days left until graduation, seniors are striving to make them the most memorable.
“At the moment, the best life advice I have for others is don’t rely on others to provide your happiness and never stop leaning and growing as a person. I don’t go a day wihout thinking about these two things. In order to make others happy, you need to make sure you are happy first. We never stop growing as people, there is always something we can learn from people or experience,” said Lepe.
Spring-time is commonly looked upon as a ‘fresh start’ in the year, and many students find motivation to persevere through obstacles and become inspired by the beauties of spring and becoming more optimistic about the future.
”I am most looking forward to graduating high school in the spring, and I’m also looking forward to the sun setting later and getting to be outside and do adventurous things with friends. I feel like longer days allow you to do more things and people get more creative,” said senior Alex Hostmyer.
Graduation is on its way, but don’t forget to appreciate the last few moments as a high school student in the meantime.
