San Luis Obispo High school senior Kiley Appleby’s life is ruined, and it’s all because of “Banana Fish.”
The 2018 anime based off of a manga romance/thriller of the same name has become extremely popular since its release, but virtually the entire fanbase agrees that it will make you have a mental breakdown.
“Show characterAsh Lynx had a troubled childhood involving the mafia and became a key gang leader in alliance with the police. Eiji Okumura is a journalist and photographer from Japan who came to New York to research the gang and mafia involvement,” said Appleby.
The heart shattering show is extremely dark while also moving, involving complex characters and a painstakingly deep journey to find a connection with another person.
“I don’t think I’ll ever recover from ‘Banana Fish’ if I’m honest. It’s been months since I’ve seen it and I cry once a week if I see anything even remotely relating to Ash Lynx. It grabbed me by the throat and threw me through 6 floors of a parking structure,” said Appleby.
The question still remains, should you watch “Banana Fish?”
“10/10 would watch again. I 100% recommend it. It’s a really, really, really, good heartwarming but painful show,” said Appleby.
