On November 20, Cal Poly is hosting a county-wide virtual choir concert featuring ensembles from the elementary to professional level, including the San Luis Obispo High School and Laguna Middle School choirs.
Students and Staff that register for a free ticket now will be emailed an unlisted link to the live YouTube video prior to the concert. Once the video premieres, it continues to live on that page to enjoy the concert at any time after it goes live.
In addition to the choirs submitting their own individual pieces, the concert will include one piece with over 250 singers performing. The piece, entitles “I Dream a World,” by composer David Brunner with lyrics from the famous Langston Hughes poem, significantly speaks to our times, while providing students with educational insight to the Harlem Renaissance.
“To go along with this theme, I also focused on the history of spirituals and gospel music in my classes this semester,” said SLOHS Choir director Julia Wallce.
