Gone but not forgotten: that is the phrase that comes to mind when thinking of the beloved white couch on the corner of Los Osos Valley Road and Prefumo Canyon Road near Laguna Middle School in San Luis Obispo.
Shame.
Expressions recently reported on the mysterious, yet enticing couch, that graced the corner of two well known SLO streets.
Sadly, not long after Expressions reported on the white couch, it disappeared without a trace.
“I kind of miss it, it was sort of a memento to Laguna Middle School,” said 2020 graduate Wyatt Dodd.
Presumably, many others feel just as broken as Dodd does, although no other students have grieved this loss publicly.
It was last seen with no cushions, an empty can of Rockstar energy drink sitting on it, and exposed, protruding metal bars. This comes as a revelation in the couch case, as it went previously unnoted that the couch was not just a couch, but a bed as well.
One can only guess what came of this couch, as well as the ever-presenting question of why it appeared in the first place. However, Dodd so kindly graced us with his theory.
“I believe a man, around 47, dropped it off after his annual couch jumping competition with his friends,” said Dodd.
It should be noted that this is only speculation, and no real answers have been uncovered.
If anyone should discover any new information on the couch, please contact Expressions with any new information.
As summer boredom as already set in, we here at the school newspaper would be delighted to know.
