San Luis Obispo High School students have the opportunity to travel over spring break this year. English teacher Jane Hawley is hosting a trip for SLOHS students to England and Scotland during the week of April 1, 2019.
“Students can learn how big the world is and find opportunities they may not have imagined,” said Hawley.
The amount one can learn from simply being exposed to new countries is immense. The lessons taken away can go far beyond their knowledge of a subject and make people more accepting of others.
“It is hard to hate other cultures once you meet them,” said social science teacher Curtis Bartlett, who hosted a trip to Ireland last year.
With the increasing amount of diversity in the world, travel can help bridge the cultural gaps between us.
“It is a great experience to visit a native speaking Spanish country.” said senior Samantha Gibbs, who went on the Peru trip last year with Spanish teacher Nelly Caminada and English teacher Ivan Simon.
There are many opportunities at SLOHS to travel with teachers. For questions and information regarding the trip, talk to Hawley in room 207. Email her at [email protected]
