San Luis Obispo High School boys tennis has created a superstar over these past four years. Senior Zach Hilty has ended his last year of varsity tennis as a Pac 8 singles champion which led him to represent SLOHS in the CIF Southern Section Individual tournament. Now with Hilty wrapping up his senior year, Expressions asked about how he looks to further his tennis career in college.
Expressions: How do you feel your last season of SLOHS boys tennis went?
Graduate Zach Hilty: It was a really good season, and we have such a great team. I really enjoyed playing with all the new guys as well.
Expressions: Which college will you be attending in the fall, and will you be playing tennis for them?
Hilty: I’m attending Middlebury college in Vermont, and yes I’ll be playing division 3 tennis for them.
Expressions: Who inspires you most to want to continue playing tennis in your future?
Hilty: Probably my grandpa because even though he’s older he’s still out there playing and taught me how to play tennis when I was younger.
Expressions: How will you be preparing this summer to be ready for college tennis?
Hilty: I’ll be practicing with the Cal Poly guys and getting a lot of match play in.
Expressions: What is your favorite part about playing this game?
Hilty: Meeting new people is my favorite part.
