Sunday, 10 a.m. several hundred people gathered at the start line to finally open the fifth San Luis Obispo Color Blast Fun Run this year. The five kilometer run, where the audience covers the runners with multicolored dust, is in honor of San Luis Obispo High School student Alex Maier. The Alex Maier Memorial Scholarship Fund and Black and Gold Boosters received the proceeds, to provide SLOHS students college scholarships.
The run is about celebrating life, happiness, and community, and there is no better way to spend a sunny sunday morning with friends or family. Sponsors provided the people with water and snacks after the run, while the runners enjoyed their time with good music. For senior Sofie Haegland it was the first time ever participating in this event.
“I had so much fun with my friends. It was a blast,” said Haegland.
Young or old, people of all ages participated in this years color run, and they all chose one thing, “happy.”
