Everyone knows making a spot on a sports team is a never an easy thing to do. Excited volleyball player freshman Sydnie Maurer was the only ninth grader to make the San Luis Obispo High School varsity team, and Expressions decided to ask her a few questions.
Expressions: What is it like to be the only freshman on the team?
Freshman Sydnie Maurer: It was a bit scary at first, but once I got to know everyone, they have been so nice and welcoming to me.
Expressions: How hard did you work to get on the team?
Maurer: Hard. I pushed myself a lot, ever since sixth grade when I saw a girl make the varsity team as a freshman. It has been my goal ever since.
Expressions: How long have you been playing volleyball?
Maurer: I have been playing since fifth or sixth grade.
Expressions: What is your favorite part of being on the team?
Maurer: Probably the people. I love everyone on the team.
