This Friday, August 25, Link Crew will be putting on a barbecue at 5:15 p.m. before the varsity football game that is free to freshmen, new students, and students with an ASB card. The barbecue will take place at the white gate, by the front of the school. The first four hundred students to arrive will receive a free meal consisting of a burger, drink, and chips. The free barbecue includes free admission into the game.
“It’s just something we wanted to put on so the students feel pumped for the new year, and new students feel welcomed and excited to join the Tiger family,” said senior Link Crew leader Lauren Rudd, who helped plan the event.
Throughout the past week, Link Crew has set up a tent at lunch encouraging San Luis Obispo High School students to come, sit, enjoy free snacks, and meet new people. They also put on a freshman orientation day and hope to use this barbecue as a way to garner school spirit from the younger grades and increase attendance to the football game.
“I believe the tailgate will be beneficial as it’s just a great way to get people from all walks of life to come together, enjoy some food and an exciting football game,” said junior Link Crew leader Thomas Prater.
The varsity football game against Santa Maria begins at 7 p.m., so make sure to be one of the first students to arrive to secure a free dinner. If students are not new or do not have an ASB card the barbecue costs three dollars, which also includes admission to the game. Wear black and gold and take your dinner to the stands to cheer on our SLOHS football team.
“We hope to see everyone there,” said senior Link Crew leader Minori Jaggia.
