With the winter sports season coming to an end at San Luis Obispo High School, a myriad of spring sports are starting, including softball. Major changes are expected this year, after a whole new coaching staff was hired and health teacher Dan Monroe stopped coaching the teams.
“Our new head varsity coach is Sheila McGuire, who used to coach softball at Cuesta College,” said sophomore Sabrina Marks. However, the new coaches aren’t the only differences one can see on the diamond this year.
“We had a total of eight seniors graduate last year, so I am excited to see how the program is going to evolve this season. The returning varsity players have been very encouraging to the younger girls moving up so I’m really looking forward to playing with them and growing as a team,” said Marks.
With all the hard work our softball players are going to be putting in this season, it’s important we show our support in the bleachers. Listen to the daily bulletin to find out when to come out and cheer for our softball teams this spring.
