On Sunday, March 20, the San Luis Obispo hockey team won the 2016 State Cup in Irvine, California. The eight-team tournament took place over two days and our team played six games. Although hockey is not an official school sport, the team is made up of only SLOHS students.
“On Saturday we played two games, we lost the first game but won our second game by Mercy Rule (also known as Slaughter Rule) 9-1. On Sunday, we won three games before moving on to the finals. The final match was against Santa Barbara and it ended in a 7-4 victory,” said junior Olliver Kibbe.
Winning State Cup for any sport is a huge deal. Kibbe attributed this triumph to, “a strong team connection and simply outplaying all the other teams”
Expressions wishes the hockey team the best of luck in their next season.
