With trimester two coming to a close, San Luis Obispo High School student’s stress is on the rise.
On this three day weekend, students owe it to themselves to get a nap in. It’s Monday. Finish reading this article and lay down.
Finals are on the way, and nobody is excited. With the way the finals schedule is set up, having dismissal at around 12:45 pm, students should take the opportunity after returning home to take a hefty rest.
Nap time is needed!
“[I’m] a hundred percent [taking that opportunity], especially ‘cause it’s rainy outside,” said junior Kembly Mendez.
By having a nap time for high school students, teens will get a chance to catch up on sleep if they didn’t get enough the night before.
Finals week is a stressful time, leaving many students up and restless throughout the night. Taking anywhere between a thirty-minute nap to an hour-long nap can be very healthy in the long run. This could help students achieve more goals with the time in the day they have left, such as extra studying or, for those in work experience, being more fit to face their work day.
“[With] any kind of finals, I’m always stressed about them… I wish our school let us take naps,” said sophomore Spencer Gonzales.
A lack of good rest can cause many issues in teens, such as struggles with attention or memory. These issues can leave them grasping for straws when faced with their tests. Combined with the sheer number of tests and the strange schedule, this is a surefire setup for disaster.
“I’m losing sleep, I’m stressing, I’m forgetting things, and then I’m stressing more with things at home,” said Gonzales.
All this to say: Tigers! TAKE MORE NAPS!
