From a young age schools celebrate Valentine’s Day and San Luis Obispo High School is no exception. Many people give chocolate and flowers in honor of the holiday of love, but are these the preferred gifts?
Flowers and a box of chocolates are the most popular selection of Valentine’s gifts since the 1900’s. SLOHS students have something to say about Valentine’s Day and what gifts they would prefer.
“I really enjoy flowers but I’m not the biggest fan of chocolate,” said senior Keely Iverson.
Other students also prefer flowers.
“I would rather have flowers than chocolate, they are more meaningful and look cute in my room,” said senior Izzy Sadzewicz.
According to these SLOHS students flowers are a must and chocolate should be changed out with a more personal gift.
“I’d really love to get a stuffed animal, I love all the ones my boyfriend has given me,” said Iverson.
Gifts can be stressful especially for busy students with not much time on their hands, but SLOHS students have tons of ideas.
“I’m getting my boyfriend a valentines themed basket with all his favorite things in it,” said Iverson.
Students seem to be prioritizing uniqueness with their gifts.
“I got my valentine, a funny jellycat and some snacks!” said Sadzewicz.
Snacks also seem to be a recurring gift this year.
“Im getting my valentine some snacks,” said senior Peyton Campbell.
Valentine’s day is a day of love and appreciation and thoughtful gifts are a great way to show that love. SLOHS is filled with gifts and holding hands on this holiday and this year should be better than ever!
