At San Luis Obispo High School students and faculty are exposed to two large and different types of entertainment industries in our technological era. They encompass movies and tv channels.
As students and staff grow up, everyone is impacted by the entertainment industry one way or another. The main movie companies that take up everyone’s screens are Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Pixar, Illumination and Paramount.
For episodes or channels, PBS Kids, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Junior and Disney Channel are popular.
But the challenging part is to figure out which side won SLOHS students attention the most.
“As a kid I would watch channels/movies because my family was fortunate to have so many movies and channels [that were] my happy place,” said junior Chris Clanin.
What did other SLOHS students and teachers use for their paradise?
“[I enjoyed] watching ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’, ‘Doc Mcstuffins’, and ‘Little Einsteins’,” said sophomore Peyton Bonn.
However, students and faculty reached a point where the taste of entertainment choice changes. The preferences between watching movies and channels/episodes is an evenly mixed group. There are two that love watching movies more, two that love watching episodes/channels, and two that love a mix of both based on the energy left for the day.
Sometimes the battle of entertainment industries could succeed in capturing an individual’s attention based on the accessibility to streaming devices and/or streaming preferences
“I watch a lot more TV than movies currently.Netflix, Apple TV, Disney, HBO Max are what I use to watch TV,” said English and film studies teacher Sholeh Prochello.
Each streaming service has something to offer. They could have better episodes/channels then movies available for a person or the other way around.
Others believe movies are currently better than episodes/channels. Ranging from the genre of the movies such as horror to others loving movies more because there are more variety of them.
Then there are those who prefer to watch a mix of both movies and channels/episodes.
“Currently, I love watching movies. But if I find a good series/tv show I’ll stick with it for a while and finish it out. I prefer having a good mix of both on the weekends depending on what I’m in the mood for,” said senior Jessie Cross.
In the battle for an individual’s attention, producers make a variety of movies or channels/episodes that pertain the attention of many different people. They range from action movies, episodes that are appropriate to very young ages, and everything far in between.
“I watched “The Substance” that just came out; [the show] was really good. And for a TV show, ‘Arcane’ is coming out. The [final] episode is coming out this Friday [aired November 23], I’m really excited for that,” said senior Hunter Temple.
Viewpoints expressed, sides taken. It’s up to everyone to decide their preference.
