It is officially the winter trimester for San Luis Obispo High School students, and Girls Golf has ended. With the season over, SLOHS students are waiting for Boys Golf to start in the spring so that the school can continue supporting this spectacular sport.
But how did the Girls’ season go?
“As team captain this past year I had to take my supportiveness to a whole ‘nother level, making sure I am including everyone and making sure everyone is okay and having fun because that’s the most important thing,” said senior Kylie Self.
This season, Girls Golf competed in eight competitions: five league minis, two tri competitions, (where three schools play against each other), and one dual match between Lompoc.
Due to their skill and hard work, two team members, senior Zan McGovern and junior Celine Schroeter-Heptig, qualified for the CIF individual playoffs.
“Our team this year was great. We had so many new golfers that it was great to see them improve over the fall season. They also were just a good group of girls, that are excellent students and very kind and social with one another,” said Girls Golf coach Daniel Prodoehl.
Their spirit and their teamwork brought great success in a fantastic season, they are sure do even better next year with supportive coaches.
“I have always loved the game of golf and coaching other sports, so when the opportunity came about to coach golf I was excited to have the opportunity to pass on my knowledge of golf to the athletes at SLO,” said Prodoehl.
Girls Golf had a fantastic time with close-knit teammates, and positive coaches like Prodoehl and Joshua Heptig.
They had a great season, with tons of wins, and Expressions wishes the best of luck to the lucky golfers, for future sports and more academics.
