The Homecoming Dance is this Saturday, October 1, at San Luis Obispo High School. To increase school spirit, ASB has organized spirit days for each day of Homecoming week; hopefully students dressed up as a 2000’s icon on Monday, do crazy hair on Tuesday, recreate a childhood photo on Wednesday, represent your elementary school on Thursday, and wear extreme black and gold on Friday.
“Spirit days bring such a fun sense of excitement and community to campus. High school can be so intense sometimes, so it is so relieving and fun to do something a little silly. Spirit days build that sense of security and unite students, which is awesome,” said Activities Commissioner and senior Mana Kiaha.
This year’s theme, throwback, is a different twist on the typical spirit days. Students at SLOHS grew up in the 2000’s, so this theme allows students to reflect on the best parts of childhood.
“It’s super nostalgic, and now that I’m a senior, looking back at my childhood feels crazy. I’m excited to see how the homecoming dance is,” said senior Christian Cuevillas.
Homecoming is an opportunity to hang out with friends, support school sports, and dance the night away. Spirit days add to the connectivity and community of SLOHS.
“It can bring friend groups together to do fun things and try out different outfits as a group,” said sophomore Will Perkins.
Dress up this week to support your school, and don’t forget to buy Homecoming tickets for $10 at the finance office.
