Kindness week dedicated to putting on fun activities and spirit days to promote students’ kindness to one another and staff. Each day has a spirit day which focuses on one aspect of kindness, which is led by ASB Commissioner of Mental Health, senior Malena Stenvall.
“This is a week meant to promote kindness and acceptance around campus. No matter how big or small the act is,”said Stenvall.
There will be a different theme for each day of this week and three dress up days on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Starting off strong on monday the theme is “be kind to yourself” day, which means students should show up in their most comfortable pajamas.
Tuesday is “Be Kind to Your Friends” day, although there is no dress up ASB will be putting up a board that anyone can put up a sticky note that shows any act of kindness or something someone has done for you.
Wednesday is “Be kind to the environment” day, meaning students dress up in their best beach/surf attire.
one of the last days, Thursday, puts across a very good message: “Be Kind Online” on this day students and staff can use the hashtag #SLOHSisKind to win a contest.
last Friday is “Peace, Love, and Kindness” the very last day where participants can dress up like the stereotypical hippie and spread kindness.
These are just the basics of the week there are many more surprises to come along with this. And Even though the message of kindness is hidden in the many activities and spirit days, students shouldn’t forget the importance behind them.
“In essence this week is to make sure everyone feels included on campus. even though just this week is celebrating kindness, we should take these ideas into every single week,” said junior Atticus Fenton.
With that, tigers, make sure to get involved this week and enjoy the activities put on. Make sure kindness is something practiced not just this week, but every week.
